Weekend Roundup

Spirit and Stories

Dear Classical Wisdom Reader,

Whew!

Over here at Classical Wisdom, we just finished our marathon Storytelling event (in collaboration with Civic Renaissance and Wondrium). It was a fantastic day with some brilliant talks, made all the better by our insightful community.

Thanks to all who watched yesterday! Anyone who registered can expect a recording of the event to be made available in the near future.

In the meantime, we have some great articles and resources from the past week, including thoughts on the implications for the Classics of the recent Roald Dahl controversy, and the lost terms from ancient Greece that English cannot quite translate, such as ‘thumos’.

Plus, from Classical Wisdom Kids we have the story of Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine, as well as fun activities for the little ones.

Also, for our Members, we have a highly informative and engaging podcast with Professor Mark Usher on the Cynics, a very misunderstood group of philosophers.

Discover the truth about who they were, and how they can still help us today. Plus, Professor Usher delves into the colorful history of Diogenes, perhaps the most famous Cynic, and one of our favorite figures from the ancient world here at Classical Wisdom.

It turns out, there’s always another story to be told…

That’s it for this week!

All the best,
