Weekend Roundup

Secrets of the Scythians

Dear Classical Wisdom Reader,

It’s a theme we often come back round to here on Classical Wisdom, but…

People really should listen to Herodotus more.

That’s just one of the points that came up in the latest episode of our Members-only Podcasts with Professors series, featuring Christopher Beckwith, Distinguished Professor in the Department of Central Eurasian Studies at Indiana University.

Anya and Professor Beckwith talked in-depth about the Scythians, the ancient nomadic people who inspired the myth of the Amazons, and were considered to be ‘invincible’ by Herodotus, who wrote of them:

…none who attacks them can escape, and none can catch them if they desire not to be found.

Discover the legacy of this influential but often overlooked people…

Members can watch that HERE.

We also released the newest episode of our Classical Wisdom Speaks podcast this week.

Anya spoke with Tad Crawford, author of On Wine-Dark Seas, a sequel to the Odyssey, and a fascinating addition to the “mythological fiction” genre.

Go deeper into the Odyssey and find out what happened next to Odysseus and Telemachus…

You can watch that HERE!
