Dear Classical Wisdom Reader,

Finally, spring has sprung! Here in the southern hemisphere the jacarandas are blooming, the sun is shining and the porteños (local Argentines) have been filling up the sidewalk cafes to drink cortados, sip wine and of course read great literature.

Finding the time to live the life of the mind is always worthwhile, dear reader. Recently, I have had a few emails from folks saying they simply don’t have the time. I understand. Our modern lives are so overfilled with tasks, expectations and appointments. I often feel the same way.

But this week I had a lot of wonderful reminders that it really is important to stop and read and contemplate.

After all, if we forget to think about the bigger picture, we may just spend our whole lives staring at shadows on the wall. We really do need to get off the treadmill, look out of the cave, otherwise we might just miss the real deal, this experience of life.

Fortunately, this was a week dedicated to the ideas of Plato, politics and perception itself. As well as how to find the sublime. See below for this week’s articles, and take a moment to catch up, if you were unable to do so during the daily grind.

As for our Members, it was a very exciting and fulfilling week!

We held our first ever Members Roundtable Discussion and it was a resounding success… the conversation was fascinating and I am extremely grateful that we have such interesting, well spoken and thoughtful members. I personally have been thinking about many of the very perceptive ideas brought up (and my poor husband has been hearing about it non-stop as well)!
