Weekend Roundup

Blindspots and Biographies

Dear Classical Wisdom Reader,

This week, we had a look at philosophical and personal blindspots, the birth of biographies, and a bit improbably… Bono.

We also held our Roundtable Discussion with Mary Naples, author of the recently released e-book, Cult of the Captured Bride. We talked about women in the ancient world, the myth of Persephone and Hades, and the mysterious Thesmophoria festival… but it also went to some, shall we say, unexpected places!

Members can watch back the event, and find out what I mean just below.

Plus, over at Classical Wisdom Kids, we looked at one of Socrates’ greatest legacies: the Socratic Method. Check it out, and let your little one discover this very important technique for thinking and understanding.

As for the week ahead, there’s a lot coming up!

This Wednesday, our latest LIVE webinar will take a look at Stoicism and Ayn Rand. We’ll be asking ‘What is Good and Why it Matters’.

Featuring Gregory Salmieri, senior scholar of philosophy in the Salem Center for Policy at the McCombs School and Aaron Smith, fellow and instructor at the Ayn Rand Institute, along with Classical Wisdom’s Anya Leonard.

That’s on April 26th and 1PM EST. If you can’t make it on the day, don’t worry. Everyone who registers will be sent a recording! You can register for the event HERE.

The same day, Plato Academy Centre will also be hosting a fireside discussion about the life and philosophy of Marcus Aurelius to mark his birthday. Featuring experts on Stoicism Donald Robertson, John Sellars, and William O. Stephens, that’s on Wednesday April 26th at 3PM EST. You can read more about it HERE.

There’s even more coming up in the weeks ahead, and you can read all about it in the events listing below…
